Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Havana Dolphins were eager to watch Jorge Marrero square off against António Moreno of the visiting Sao Paulo Toucans. In the end, the Dolphins won the game, 2-0, with Jorge Marrero leading the way. The win was credited to Deo Sudeshna in relief. His record improves to 1-0. António Moreno took the loss. Picking up his 1st save was seven-time All-Star Kwan-yew Lei.

Havana took a 2-0 lead on Abdul-Wahhab bin Idris's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which bin Idris hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Sao Paulo pitcher António Moreno visibly frustrated.

"We've got a great group of guys," Marrero said, "and we're having fun right now."
