The Detroit Blue Gills converted a terrific effort from starter Yoshinori Matsushita into a win over the Los Angeles Stars at Tokyo Ballpark. The Blue Gills won the game by a final score of 3-2. Detroit reliever José Morín picked up the win to move to 1-0. Daniel Tejano suffered the loss. Osman Sumbatashvili earned the save for Detroit, his 6th.

Detroit took a 3-2 lead on Armando Madrid's 2nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Madrid hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Los Angeles pitcher Daniel Tejano visibly frustrated.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Detroit manager El Weston. "Our pregame was pretty good."

With the win, the Blue Gills are 13-28.
