Pharaohs Get Hard-Earned Win
The Daegu Monks got a sterling performance from pitcher Ethan Vergette, but the Cairo Pharaohs still prevailed, 2-1. Vergette threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The winner in relief was Boris Simovic. He is now 7-5. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Héctor Leal earned the save, his 1st, for the Pharaohs.

Hiroyasu Inagaki had a direct impact on the outcome. Inagaki contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Cairo up, 2-1.

"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Inagaki.

Cairo occupies third place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division at 67-66.
