Beefs Pocket 6-3 Win Against Sao Paulo
|
The Chicago Beefs beat the Sao Paulo Toucans, 6-3. Chicago pitcher and Graz, Austria, native Clemenz Knauss led the way. Knauss, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 5 walks. Chicago, at 79-59, sits in second place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.
Alfonso Alfaro had a big 2-run double for the Beefs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Galván and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beefs ahead, 5-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Alfaro told the Chicago Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
