Stars Rebuff Palmchats, 7-6
|
The Los Angeles Stars topped the Santo Domingo Palmchats by a score of 7-6. Leading the way was second baseman Brian Hurt. Hurt was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Stars. Svetozar Kos earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Clodio Castanhedo picked up the save, his 29th.
The Stars got a big at-bat from first baseman Roushdy Nkosi. For the game, Nkosi went 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season gave Los Angeles a 6-5 lead.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Hurt told the Los Angeles Chronicle.
Los Angeles, at 60-79, holds down 4th place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.
