Havana left-hander Jorge Marrero helped his team edge Puerto Rico by the score of 2-1. Marrero kept the opposing lineup in check. Florípes Seguito closed out the game, earning his 4th save. The first-place Dolphins improved to 83-59.

Jacky Blondel came through with a big-time hit for Havana. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Bottom line," said Puerto Rico skipper Kir By, "we didn't play well enough to win."
