Aztecs Rebuff Blue Gills, 4-3
|
The Mexico City Aztecs weathered an outstanding game by Detroit left fielder Shi-lin Guo to topple the Blue Gills, 4-3. Guo went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Ken Venning. He's now 3-3. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits for the Aztecs. The save went to Joseph Muller, number 38 for him.
Ken Venning dealt the Blue Gills a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Mexico City leading 3-1, Venning hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Detroit manager Detroit Dave.
With the win, Mexico City raised its record to 88-55.
