The Chicago Beefs and El Paso Thunderbirds played an exciting game.
In a low-scoring affair between the Chicago Beefs and the El Paso Thunderbirds, pitcher Kigeri Muroki was the difference between victory and defeat. The Chicago right-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Beefs win. Tiljad Mbizi earned the save, his 32nd, for the Beefs.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Gebre Batrawi came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing El Paso pitcher Mayne Rippon, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 3-2.
Batrawi said his team "played with focus."
The 'W' lifts Chicago's record to 81-63.
