The Chicago Beefs got a superb performance from pitcher La`nh Vu, but the Havana Dolphins still won the game, 5-2. Vu threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Kwan-yew Lei converted his 31st save in 36 tries. The Americas Baseball League Latin American Division-leading Dolphins have a record of 86-60.

Havana needed the clutch hitting of Abdul-Wahhab bin Idris to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dolphins on top, 3-1. For the game, bin Idris had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Havana manager Dan Farnell. "It's usually not just one thing."
