Starting pitcher Mengisteab Cyilima gave the Puerto Rico Coqui a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Chicago Beefs, 2-1, at Ballpark of San Juan. Igoryok Faktorovich, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. The Coqui are now 26-16, while the Beefs fall to 22-20.

Early in the game, left fielder Octávio Cicia had a run-scoring double for Puerto Rico. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Coqui on top, 1-0.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Puerto Rico manager Kir By.
