Javier Villegas, who is on pace for 214 strikeouts this season, was terrific for the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars in his team's 4-0 triumph over the Santo Domingo Palmchats. His performance earned Villegas rave reviews. Luis Gutiérrez earned the save for Rio de Janeiro, his 39th. The win gives Rio de Janeiro a season record of 85-64.

Villegas imposed his will on the Palmchats, scattering 1 hit over 6 innings while striking out 8. The left-hander upped his season record to 11-6.

"All my pitches were working," said Villegas. "They were all synchronized together in attacking the zone."
