Detroit got a valiant performance from pitcher Frederick Segala, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Beefs. Chicago won the game, 4-3. Segala threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Chicago reliever Guido Spano snagged the win, upping his record to 4-2. Osman Sumbatashvili shouldered the loss. With the victory, the Beefs upped their record to 86-68.

Chicago got a knockout punch from Boboy Gines. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Gines.
