Coqui Need Extra Frames to Get Past Blue Gills
The Puerto Rico Coqui racked up a win at Tokyo Ballpark, bumping off the Detroit Blue Gills, 6-3, in 15 innings. Lou Berg, who started for Puerto Rico, pitched effectively for his team. The winner in relief was Hanus Kamas. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The Coqui improved their record to 21-23 by beating Detroit.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Alejandro Ramírez? The former first round draft pick Ramírez stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 15th inning to put Puerto Rico up, 5-3. For the game, he was 4 for 6, including 3 doubles and 1 single.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Ramírez.
