Chicago Gets 5-3 Win
|
The Chicago Beefs topped the Detroit Blue Gills, 5-3, in Americas Baseball League action at Detroit Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Chicago pitcher and Katsina, Nigeria, native Kigeri Muroki. In 6 innings, Muroki surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Earning his 10th save of the year was Tiljad Mbizi.
Chicago relied on the bat of Gebre Batrawi to get the win. The third baseman ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Beefs ahead, 2-0. For the game, Batrawi had 1 double and 1 triple in 4 at-bats.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Batrawi. "It sure beats the alternative."
Chicago occupies second place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division at 23-21.
