The Puerto Rico Coqui got a magnificent performance from pitcher Sher Rathore, who muffled the Sao Paulo offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Coqui win at Ballpark of San Juan. Rathore, now 5-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Igoryok Faktorovich notched his 15th save of the season.

The Coqui got a big at-bat from left fielder Octávio Cicia. For the game, Cicia was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 13th double of the season gave Puerto Rico a 1-0 lead.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Sao Paulo skipper Casey Blake DeWitt, "and it cost us."

The first-place Coqui have won 5 consecutive games.
