The Daegu Monks beat the Melbourne Meteors, 7-5, at Monks Stadium. Daegu shortstop Marcos Escamilla banged out 1 single and 1 double, while driving in 3 runs. Raúl Arce was the winner. He's now 3-4. The loser was 39-year old right-handed pitcher Giacomo Cafagna. Husain bin Sariyah got the save, the 1st for him this season.

With Daegu leading 4-1 in the bottom of the third, Escamilla hit a fastball from Giacomo Cafagna for a bases-clearing double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Monks ahead, 7-1.

"I know we have our doubters," said Melbourne manager Bob Meteors. "But I still have high hopes for this team."

Their 18-27 record puts the Monks last in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division.
