Fitzies Win in Extras, 5-3
|
The Tokyo Fitzies withstood a good performance by Daegu shortstop Miguel Peña to knock off Daegu, 5-3, in 10 innings. Peña was 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tokyo pitcher Nokrashy Kumbufu got the win. He's now 1-0. Cornélio Tender was tagged with the loss. The Fitzies now have a record of 23-23 with the win over Daegu.
Tokyo used a timely hit from Arun Virinchi to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Fitzies ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Our offense was purring," said Tokyo manager . "Like a well-oiled machine."
