Oslo Dismisses Melbourne, 9-3
|
The Oslo Voyageurs picked up a win at Meteor Crater, knocking off the Melbourne Meteors, 9-3. Starting pitcher Yoshifusa Hasegawa played a key role in the triumph. Hasegawa, who finished 3rd in the IBL in strikeouts with 114 last year, went the distance for Oslo. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. With their winning streak at 5, the Voyageurs have raced to a strong start this season.
Junji Yoshino was 1-2 for Oslo. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Erik Sverdrup. It was his 9th hit of the season.
"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said Melbourne skipper Bob Meteors.
