The Havana Dolphins topped the Detroit Blue Gills, 4-2, in Americas Baseball League action at Detroit Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Havana pitcher and Karachi, Pakistan, native Syed Suhrawardi. Suhrawardi picked up the win for Havana, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. The win gives Havana a season record of 26-23.
Havana won the game in part because of Jacky Blondel. The catcher ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dolphins ahead, 2-1. For the game, Blondel had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Syed just settled in and did what he does," said Havana manager Dan Farnell.
