Melbourne starter Carol Bibescu put the Beijing offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his forkball in leading the Meteors to a 5-1 win. Melbourne pitcher Tymon Mavrokordatos earned the win, hiking his record to 2-3. Ramachandra Ghandi suffered the loss. The Meteors now have a record of 22-27.

Melbourne took the lead, 5-1, on Elkhan Gorlenko's 2nd home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Beijing pitcher Ramachandra Ghandi in the bottom of the eighth.

"We've got great fans," said Gorlenko. "I hope they got what they came for."
