On Road, Meteors Top Fitzies, 3-1
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Fitzies Stadium. But 22-year old third baseman Owen Rabbetts produced just enough offense to carry the Meteors past the Tokyo Fitzies, 3-1. Rabbetts was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. The winner was Melbourne reliever Kazuyuki Kanno, now 2-0. The loser was Mayne Rippon. The win makes Melbourne 30-21.
Juan Escobedo had a direct impact on the outcome. Escobedo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Melbourne up, 3-1.
"We busted our tails," said Tokyo manager . "But we came up short."
