The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars picked up a win at Rio de Janeiro Grounds, topping the Puerto Rico Coqui, 4-3. On the mound for Rio de Janeiro was left-hander Jhong-shun Lee. He played a principal role in the triumph. Rio de Janeiro reliever In-kwon Yun picked up the win to move to 4-4. Wendel Lippelt suffered the loss. With the win, Rio de Janeiro has a record of 27-25. Puerto Rico falls to 32-20.
Had Leo Brooks not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Brooks hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Jaguars.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Rio de Janeiro manager Echo 127.
