Villegas Dazzles in 2-0 Rio de Janeiro Win
|
Left-hander Javier Villegas mesmerized the Puerto Rico Coqui while leading the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars to a 2-0 victory. The Jaguars are now 28-25.
Villegas was in the zone, shutting down Puerto Rico hitters over 7 innings. Villegas, who threw 98 pitches, allowed no runs on 4 hits. He also tallied 8 punchouts.
"Javier throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Rio de Janeiro manager Echo 127.
