Benefiting from Doug Marshall's productive game, the Puerto Rico Coqui downed the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars, 6-2. Marshall was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times for the Coqui. The win was credited to 33-year old right-handed pitcher Ignaty Ivanenkov in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Murtadi bin Jabbar took the loss. Puerto Rico goes to 33-21, Rio de Janeiro to 28-26.

Puerto Rico used the timely hitting of Urtilan Cheromei to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Coqui on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Marshall told the Puerto Rico Gazette.
