The Havana Dolphins beat the El Paso Thunderbirds, 5-4, in part because of catcher Jacky Blondel. He was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Havana pitcher Florípes Seguito earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Bennie Terry suffered the loss. Havana, now 31-24, holds down second place in the Americas Baseball League Latin American Division.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Havana trailing 4-3, Blondel jumped on a fastball from 28-year old left-handed pitcher Bennie Terry and hit a 2-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Dolphins had a walk-off win.

"This place was rocking at the end," Blondel said.
