Fitzies Held in Check by Pharaohs, Lose, 8-1
|
Cairo and Tokyo got after it at Pharaohs Ballpark.
The Cairo Pharaohs picked up a win at Pharaohs Ballpark, knocking off the Tokyo Fitzies, 8-1. On the mound for Cairo was left-hander Chinh Tran-Dinh. He played a key role in the triumph. Tran-Dinh, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 5, and allowing no runs.
Wattas Mwenda had a big 3-run home run for the Pharaohs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cairo leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Tadesse Kani and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Pharaohs on top, 6-0.
"Felt great, felt really good," said Tran-Dinh.
Cairo is now 31-30, Tokyo 38-23.
