Coqui Get One-Run Win at Detroit
|
Puerto Rico Coqui starter Sher Rathore pitched a strong game against the Detroit Blue Gills at Detroit Ballpark, leading the Coqui to victory, 5-4. The winner was Rathore. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Mu-sang Kim. Chong-sik Kyung, credited with the save, is now 1 for 3 in save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Puerto Rico, had it not been for Leonor Poppe, the former first round draft pick . Poppe contributed a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put Puerto Rico up, 5-0.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Poppe told reporters after the game.
The Coqui, at 37-25, lead by one game in their division.
