Beefs Win Squeaker, 6-5, Over Jaguars
|
The Chicago Beefs had to overcome a big game from Rio de Janeiro third baseman Guy Pacio to leave Rio de Janeiro Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 13 innings. Pacio was 4 for 6 with 2 home runs and a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Chicago reliever Mark Bell picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Tony Jiménez took the loss. With the win, Chicago upped its record to 36-26.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Gesang Simbolon to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Beefs on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Simbolon said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
