Meteors Earn Win with Late Rally
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Melbourne Meteors and Rome Generals.

Edgardo Román did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Rome Generals from being beaten, 6-5, to the Melbourne Meteors at The Colosseum. Román was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Reliever Byron Williams picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Kien Tseng took the loss. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Tymon Mavrokordatos.

Had Ishtaq Abbasi not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Abbasi hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Meteors.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Abbasi. "And not try to do too much."

With the win over Rome, the Meteors improved to 29-33.
