Aztecs Win Nail-Biter in 16
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Mexico City Aztecs and Havana Dolphins.

The Mexico City Aztecs had to overcome a fine effort from Havana pitcher Tony Gutiérrez to win, 4-3, in 16 innings at El Estadio Latinoamericano. Gutiérrez went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Mexico City pitcher Nasser Moreau earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Florípes Seguito suffered the loss.

Mexico City used the timely hitting of Ignacio Padilla to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 16th inning to put the Aztecs on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 8 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Havana skipper Dan Farnell, "and it cost us."

The victory gives Mexico City a record of 35-28.
