Meteors 7-3 Winners Over Tokyo
|
The Melbourne Meteors used the hitting of pinch hitter Roberto Peña to subdue the Tokyo Fitzies, 7-3. For the game, Peña went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Melbourne reliever Max Schmalzl picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Hwen-thiang Liang took the loss. Melbourne is now 30-34, Tokyo 39-25.
Sima Lovre, who is on pace to hit 41 home runs this season, helped out the Melbourne cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the first baseman was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Solid performance from our side," said Meteors manager Bob Meteors.
