Starting pitcher Awinagh Ezeamaka took care of business, helping the Puerto Rico Coqui stifle the Santo Domingo Palmchats, 3-2. Ezeamaka, now 7-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Igoryok Faktorovich wrapped it up, recording his 19th save.
Karim Garcia, who finished 4th in the IBL in batting average with .320 in 2147, had a direct impact on the outcome. Garcia contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Puerto Rico up, 3-2.
"We've hit a lull," said Santo Domingo manager Huck L. Berry.
