Meteors 3B Wheeler hits 10th home run in Win
|
Bobby Wheeler helped his team muscle past the Beijing Emperors, 6-5. In the game, the Melbourne third baseman went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Félix Soto earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Mike Delzoppo wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Had Wheeler not come through in the top of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Wheeler hit a grand slam home run. The Meteors took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Wheeler said.
With the win, Melbourne has a record of 32-35. Beijing falls to 45-22.
