Sao Paulo picked up a win at El Estadio Latinoamericano, bumping off the Havana Dolphins, 6-1. Pitcher Alfonso Vásquez was a major reason the Toucans emerged victorious. Takuji Mochizuki recorded the save, his 1st. The win for the Toucans lifted their record to 36-35.
Sao Paulo left fielder Marco Delpino contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 36th hit of the season and put the Toucans ahead, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Sao Paulo manager Casey Blake DeWitt.
