Padilla Blisters El Paso
The Mexico City Aztecs stopped the El Paso Thunderbirds by a score of 12-11 at Thunderdome, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Ignacio Padilla. The 30-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Padilla said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Padilla did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Thunderbirds.

"Not much that I can say," offered El Paso manager AP MP. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Ignacio Padilla singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

So far this year, Padilla has hit .309 with 3 home runs, 36 RBIs and 43 runs scored.
