Mexico City Wins Game 4 in Extras; On Verge of CS
|
The Mexico City Aztecs went into extra innings against the Chicago Beefs but ultimately moved to within one game of the League Championship Series.
The Aztecs downed the Beefs at Beefs Stadium by a score of 3-2. Even as his squad took the loss, Chicago right-hander La`nh Vu threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Aztecs a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Zhao-ji Zheng came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Chicago pitcher Mark Bell, he hit a first pitch slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mexico City on top, 3-2.
"It was a test of wills," said Square Drive, the Mexico City skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beefs Stadium in Chicago.
