Thrice as Nice: Cairo On Verge of Sweep after Walk-off Win
|
The Cairo Pharaohs moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the Oslo Voyageurs, 2-1, in a tense, extra-inning affair at Pharaohs Ballpark. Leading the way for the Pharaohs was left-hander Chinh Tran-Dinh. He threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Pharaohs a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
With the game on the line, Kaleb Ame came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. And the Cairo third baseman came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Khaled Hakim, the Oslo pitcher.
Tran-Dinh called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pharaohs Ballpark in Cairo.
