The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars started the League Championship Series in style, downing the visiting Chicago Beefs at Rio de Janeiro Grounds by a score of 8-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Jaguars catcher Michael Smith went 1 for 1 with 3 walks. He scored 3 times.
