Pharaohs Beat Meteors, 5-3, to Start CS
The Cairo Pharaohs faced a tough opponent in Melbourne Meteors pitcher Aaron Miller, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the League Championship Series, which they now lead 1-0. The Pharaohs won, 5-3, at Pharaohs Ballpark, despite the Meteors getting a strong start from right-hander Miller, who went 7 innings and allowed 1 run.

Gütersloh, Germany-born Oskar Kappel came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Pharaohs trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Cairo on top.

Kappel called the win "a team effort."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pharaohs Ballpark in Cairo.
