The Melbourne Meteors went home winners at Meteor Crater, thanks in large part to starter Gerardo Mendoza. Mendoza stifled the Daegu Monks, enabling Melbourne to grab the 9-1 win. Byron Williams picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Husain bin Sariyah suffered the loss. Melbourne is now 37-37.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Sima Lovre came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Daegu pitcher Husain bin Sariyah, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Melbourne on top, 3-1.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager R Beadle.
