Starting pitcher Damien Duval gave the Los Angeles Stars a rock-solid effort. The Mitry-Mory, France native helped his team defeat the Chicago Beefs, 3-2, at Field of the Stars. The winning pitcher was Duval, now 6-7. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Clodio Castanhedo was credited with the save, his 15th in 19 tries.

Los Angeles catcher Brenden Mathaathi helped the Stars go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Mathaathi hit a run-scoring single off Chicago pitcher Yoshitoshi Murata.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Duval told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."

The 4th-place Stars lifted their record to 32-43.
