Palmchats Win by Slim Margin, 5-4

Abdul Qadir Shirazi did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars from being beaten, 5-4, to the Santo Domingo Palmchats at Estadio Santo Domingo. Shirazi went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. Santo Domingo reliever Kil-hyun Kim got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Pàli Bajrami was tagged with the loss. Adrian Dean earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Damian England drove in one run for Santo Domingo. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, England, the 10th overall pick in the 2150 draft, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Rio de Janeiro hurler Pàli Bajrami, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Palmchats a 5-4 lead.
"Good teams find a way to win close games," England said.
Rio de Janeiro, with the loss, is still a stout 6-2.
