Floundering Monks Lose 7th Straight
|
Daegu got a terrific performance from pitcher Dustin Sanders, but it wasn't enough to beat the Beijing Emperors. Beijing won the Monks Stadium contest, 4-1. Sanders threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Beijing pitcher Bing-zhang Chin got the win. He's now 5-3. Husain bin Sariyah was tagged with the loss. Kumar Lata earned the save, his 3rd in 4 tries.
Jack Mitchell, who finished 2nd in the IBL in wins above replacement with 6.2 last year, helped out the Beijing cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder went 1-3 with a walk.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Emperors manager Kev In, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
The Monks have now dropped 7 straight.
