The Beijing Emperors knocked off the Melbourne Meteors, 7-4, in Intercontinental Baseball League action at Meteor Crater. Beijing pitcher and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, native Érico Caramelo had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Caramelo, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Bing-zhang Chin collected his 2nd save.

Beijing took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Asbjørn Strømstad hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Emperors in front, 3-2.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Strømstad told the Beijing Today.

The loss drops Melbourne to 4-4.
