Fitzies Turn Back Daegu, 5-3
|
The Tokyo Fitzies picked up a win at Monks Stadium, knocking off the Daegu Monks, 5-3. Starting pitcher Kyung-nam Pak was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Pak, now 1-0. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 5. Alastair Bacon notched his 3rd save of the season.
José Villa came through with a big-time hit for Tokyo. The right fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Villa. "You've got to get results."
The loss lowers the Daegu record to 4-4.
