Generals Beat Cairo, 5-4
|
Cairo right fielder David Grillo was sensational. He went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Rome beat the Pharaohs, 5-4. Rome reliever Preki Cvetkovic picked up the win. Pang Chang took the loss for Cairo. Lúcio Caso was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Rome took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Sami Muroki hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Generals in front, 5-4.
"Both teams played hard," said Rome manager Tx Horns.
With the win, Rome elevates its record to 5-4.
