Starting pitcher Awinagh Ezeamaka pitched well enough to help the Puerto Rico Coqui beat the Havana Dolphins, 5-3. Ezeamaka picked up the win for Puerto Rico, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Hayato Tsuchida earned the save for Puerto Rico, his 1st of the year.

Leonor Poppe had a big 2-run home run for the Coqui in the bottom of the second inning. With Puerto Rico leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Rens Buizer, who finished 2nd in the ABL in ERA with 2.50 last year, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Coqui on top, 4-0.

"Awinagh is a tough competitor," said Puerto Rico manager Kir By.

The loss puts Havana at 8-2.
