Belmondo Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Los Angeles Saturday, October 5th , 2154 The El Paso Thunderbirds lost to the Los Angeles Stars, 2-0, at Field of the Stars, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Gianpaolo Belmondo's 20-game hitting streak. The third baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Belmondo, we would win the game," Stars manager Alex G explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." This season, Belmondo is batting .316 with 95 RBIs, 111 runs scored and 27 home runs. |
