Toucans, Segura Blank Detroit, 7-0 Sunday, August 1st , 2151 The Detroit Blue Gills manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Sao Paulo Toucans. The Blue Gills were overpowered by Sao Paulo starter Mariano Segura, who hurled his club to victory, 7-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," El Weston said. Over 9 innings, Segura blanked Detroit on 6 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Segura said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Checking out his stats for the season, Segura has registered 10 wins and 9 losses in 23 starts, posted a 3.47 ERA, and struck out 117 batters in 148 innings.
