League Suspends Carolina 2B Barber
Friday, June 14th , 2143
There was a hostile encounter between Ian Barber and the men in blue in yesterday's Carolina-Geneva game. The Coqui second baseman was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Barber stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Barber for 3 games.
Barber is presently hitting at a .240 pace with 7 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 61 games and scored 27 times.
