Sánchez Fires 4-0 Shutout in Coqui Win Thursday, June 18th , 2139 Before the game, Alberto Sánchez said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Carolina Ballpark, the Coqui pitcher whitewashed the Austin Grackles 4-0. "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Sánchez said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count." The Carolina starter held Austin scoreless, giving up 5 hits while registering 10 strikeouts and issuing 7 walks. "We didn't have very many good at-bats," Grackles manager said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose." This season Sánchez has worked 99.2 innings with 90 strikeouts en route to a 4-7 record and a 4.42 ERA. |
